Do you think the Matildas have a lot more to lose here than the NRL and Spencer Leniu?

Most people already think that all NRL players are meat heads, but part of the appeal of the Matildas is that they have a more wholesome image. So could that all change if she’s found guilty?
Interesting one.

As big a star as Sam is the Matildas played a big chunk of the World Cup without here, have qualified for the Olympics without here and will play at the games without her.

No doubt she's a superstar but I feel as though their appeal will live on when she's gone.

I reckon for a lot of females they are their number one team. For a lot of others, like myself, they're my number two team to support now.

I doubt this incident will diminish their appeal at all tbh.

The Matilda’s isnt just Sam Kerr. Especially with Mary Fowler and Mackenzie Arnold also both very popular. The nation fell in love with the Tillies as a team. This wont hit the Tillies as a whole as much as some might think, if it all.

I helped out at our club's 'Intro to Football' day on Sunday which is mainly for 4-6 year olds.

There were three girls with Mary Fowler t shirts on, great to see. No Sammy t shirts.

The transition is 100% well and truly underway.

accused of using insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress to a police officer
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Pommy coppers wear stab vests to protect against knife attacks. Might need some fluffy pink earmuffs to protect against word attacks too.

Caused alarm or distress - get the **** outta here

Apparently she called the copper a "white bastard".
Yeah this has opened a massive can of worms on the socials if whether or not white people can be the victims of racism. Not a fun time to be on twitter at the moment. Plenty of dodgy opinions on both sides.

Not touching it with a ten foot pole.

Twitter is a cesspit - I avoid it now except when looking for specific stuff

Calling a cop stupid white bastard isn't appropriate behaviour though, and choosing to bring race into it means Kerr opened the can of worms for herself and can't then complain if she ends up covered in worms.
If she doesn't think he should be insulted by it why did she seemingly use it as an insult?

"Kerr’s defence would be that she didn’t intend to cause alarm, harassment or distress to the officer and that her behaviour did not amount to it, and it was not racially aggravated."

So, I was abusing him about his race not because of it?
I wasn't angry at him because he was white, that was just one of the things I used as an insult?

Stick to stupid ****ing bastard next time maybe...

Yep. Racism works both ways, I don't see how it can be seen any other way.

The Tillies have drawn USA, Germany and an African qualifier yet to be named for the Olympics.

Remember there are only 12 teams so you're not going to get an easy group.

USA don't seem to be what they once were.

Not good.
Three A-League soccer players have been arrested after police uncovered an alleged corrupt betting scheme at a Sydney football club.

Police allege a senior player at Macarthur FC was taking instructions from a man believed to be in South America to organise for yellow cards to be awarded during games to make a profit.

Police allege the senior player successfully controlled the number of yellow cards – which are given to players by a referee for foul play – during a match against Melbourne Victory on November 24, and a match against Sydney FC on December 9.

Police say failed attempts at yellow card manipulation were also made during games on April 20 and May 4.

NSW Police arrested three players in early morning raids on Friday after a significant investigation, aided by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.

The players are Macarthur captain Ulises Davila, Clayton Lewis and Kearyn Baccus.

Davila is especially devastating as he’s one of the marketable “good guys” of the league
