My Origin side with plenty of spots still in contention

1 Edwards/Turbo
2 To'o
3 Crichton
4 Turbo/Staggs/Ramien
5 JAC/Lomax/Tupou
6 Hynes
7 Cleary
8 Haas
9 Robson/Kenny
10 RCG/Paulo
11 Olakau'atu
12 Martin
13 Murray

14 Wighton
15 Utoikamanu/Barnett/Paulo
16 Yeo/ACrichton/Utoikamanu/Barnett/Paulo/
17 Api/Robson

18 Burton/Papenhuyzen
19 Jurbo

As you can see in the 15 jersey there is a clear spot IMO for a prop to secure a place for themselves over next few weeks. I had May here too for a period but Roosters won't give him enough football for that to happen. A few other spots in contention.

Yeo I don't mind having but he needs to realise he is a forward first and a ball player second, gets too cute in SOO for me. He is a good ball player but when he is one of 3 middles in SOO more tough stuff needed. I think maybe we'd be better off with him or Murray - Wighton or starting hooker can spell Murray.
Starting to think Angus Crichton could make a serious push for a bench spot too, can cover edge or middle like Martin can, although do have Wighton as edge cover. If Wighton form not up to scratch maybe Yeo gets a jersey there (not as flexible obviously).

You might be right, and I can see how it works with someone like Cook as his strength is his running game. Less minutes allows him to run more. I don't see that so much in an Api/Brailey/Robson combination.

I just think we benefit so much more from someone like Wighton at 14, who could cover almost every position in a pinch.

I also get your point winning game 3, but you could argue we lost game 1/2 by moving Nicho/Cook to the centres without having a true utility.
Yeah that’s a good point too, thats why if we do go bench utility it has to be someone like Wighton who can play, and has played in multiple positions, plus a game plan to inject them in the game.

Hynes on the bench with no intention of even using him was stupid from Freddy. Cook to centres was also dumb from Freddy. Bench selection, bench rotation, game plan would have been based around 2 hookers and that all went out the window, and to top it off Cook got torn apart out there too

I still think there is the chance Wighton might not make himself available so next in line that category is probably Burton.

Yeah completely agree. Freddy got it all wrong. I'd also have Burton as next in line in that spot.

I originally had Wighton/Burton but deleted him as I didn't feel it was a contest, it is Wightons spot if he wants it based on past performances (and having a crack for Rabbits). On removing him I put him at 18th man which I wasn't originally including, and added the comment about Yeo.

Def agree Burton an option though

He isn’t playing behind a beaten pack this season.

Also our defense, handling and discipline is noticeably better so we are getting more time on the front foot or applying pressure as opposed to the opposite which wears the team down.

Be interesting to see how we go against some bigger packs with the likes of McInnes, Talakai and Williams.

Fine while the weather is good, but if we get a slow track might be tougher.

In theory our outside backs hitups might lose some effectiveness in boggy or wet conditions putting some more pressure back on our pack but I have also seen this Sharks team play some remarkable wet weather footy in terms of ball control and adventurous play.

McInnes, Talakai, Williams are all strong dudes anyway, don't usually get dominated unless gang tackled and pushed back hard which isn't a given.

Our big boppers like BHU, Nut, Oregon will need to prove themselves against the better packs regardless and a slow track effects the other team too but yea their role might take on more importance if our smaller dudes struggle a bit.

I think we just worry about ourselves, then the opposition and then the conditions as they present themselves.

An article on NRL.com.au doesn't even mention brailey as a NSW Origin potential. Robson and Egan are mentioned. NSW like losing if they think Robson is a good hooker.

Even worse they included Kenny in considerations.
Kenny probably the best defender of the lot, if they wanted to sure up the first 20 before a more dynamic hooker comes on, with a guy who can cover into forwards, he’s a good choice.

McInnes passing too rusty

It would be such a nothing pick though. 20 minutes of tackling and potentially some lacklustre hit-ups later. I think the 14 jersey has been underestimated by NSW since the days of Craig Wing/Gidley. It's such an important role in origin IMO.

Yeah you’d have to specifically want to play that style. Not the direction I’d go

I don't think OFB can well officially be Trindall cause he isn't actually playing but if it can be someone who isn't playing we may as well make it Royce Hunt. yea **** it it's him. When's he going to get Horse back? sometime this century I hope

Robson the hooker has regressed into Robson the Sharks halfback

Blayke the hooker actually deserves consideration for the Blues considering alternative options which is why the Blues won't pick him, cause they love losing

Why are these knobs even considering Cam McInnes, there should be no consideration just pick him, bloke is going great, but again love losing and sticking with favs that don't get the job done

Latrell waiting till he's told he's not needed to withdraw himself from Origin selection and to focus on the Bunnies lol but knowing the Blues they will call the slug up so he an pretened to be a factor

The irony of an actually decent Blues player in Whiton apparatly not making himself available to focus on the lost cause that is the South Sydney Bunnies

Yea it's not the Origin thread but Blayke Brailey is filthy so let's discuss some filth

2 dummy half rotation is the way to go. Start Robson first 20, then put Api on. Forget utility back on the bench, all they'll do is keep the bench warm til theres an injury, they wont use them in the middle. Start Murray at lock, so you have an extra front rower type player, then bring on Yeo to have that ball playing lock run around. Robson can also play lock if u wanted to keep both dummy halves on. Any injuries in the backline, Yeo or Murray can play centre and then shuffle the backs around

Robson and Api have experience and proven themselves in origin, and theyre not out of form this season, give them game 1.
